*Sadly, Storm crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly (but peacefully) on 9/4/22. We believe he was nearly 10 years old and had likely reached the natural end of his life. The rest of his flock are grieving his loss and would love your support!
Name: Storm
Hatch year: Unknown
Sex: Rooster/Male
Breed: Cochin
Storm was donated to our farm from a previous employee who knew we needed a kind rooster. He enjoys attention and affection, and even goes on some Mobile ANT visits in a very large basket! He spends most of his days, though, lounging around the farm and looking out for the hens. He is a gentle, sweet rooster and helps educate people about the misconceptions around chickens!
Fun fact: Storm was nicknamed "Thunderpants" by one of our participants due to his awesome leg feathers!
Name: Miney (Mine-ee)
Hatch year: Unkown
Sex: Hen
Breed: Bantam mix (Ameraucana mix)
Miney was donated from an ANT friend earlier this year when we were looking for a bantam hen. We are still helping her learn that people are friends, but she is slowly warming up to all her new herd members!
Fun fact: Miney is the fastest chicken on the farm and can fly a bit too!
Name: Kookachoo
Hatch year: Unknown
Sex: Hen
Breed: Speckled Sussex
Kookachoo came to the farm with Storm from a previous employee who was moving and needed a home for her chickens. Kookachoo is very social and loves to talk, and has been increasingly engaged in program. She will fall asleep in people’s laps when they stroke her head.
Fun Fact: Will come running right up to you to beg for grubs!
Name: Mary Poppins
Hatch year: 2015
Sex: Hen
Breed: Buff Orpington
Mary is the sweetest chicken on the farm ("practically perfect in every way") and loves to be held and have her belly rubbed! She was raised by a previous veteran participant who needed to rehome her flock to our farm. She is a regular Mobile ANT visitor and even walks around with a harness & leash sometimes! She prefers to be held (rather than sit in a basket), and is known to fall asleep in the arms of senior friends.
Fun facts: Mary lays small eggs for a chicken of her size - we think it has to do with the interesting shape of her tail end. She also loves to hang out with the bunnies!
Name: Evie
Hatch year: 2015
Sex: Hen
Breed: Australorp
Evie was raised by a previous veteran participant who needed to rehome her flock to our farm. Evie was pretty shy but is becoming more willing to connect with her human friends. She is a very quiet but curious chicken, who will approach you looking for treats. Evie is learning to participate in Mobile ANT and doing great so far!
Fun fact: Evie is the gentle leader of the chicken flock.
Name: She-ra
Hatch year: 2015
Sex: Hen
Breed: Ameraucana
She-ra was raised by a previous veteran participant who needed to rehome her flock to our farm. She is a very sweet chicken but also the most cautious chicken on the farm. Her breed is known for having fluffy cheeks, and her black cheek feathers always make people smile! She is shy but learning to participate in Mobile ANT.
Fun fact: She-ra lays greenish-blue eggs!
Name: Princess Layer
Hatch year: 2017
Sex: Hen
Breed: Brabanter
Princess was raised by a previous veteran participant who needed to rehome her flock. She really stands out in the flock with her beautiful feather headdress! Princess can be shy but likes to be held. She has learned that the participants offer lots of love and will snuggle her head into their chests.
Fun fact: Her name is a funny twist on the famous character, Princess Leia!
